Alexa enhance my buddy’s 706 total from Tuesday night league play

One of my favorite 3 game sets I’ve ever had a chance to follow up and blog about. If Danny, Dave and Mike weren’t slinging shots after game 3 then I have serious questions about Team Smith Corcora for the long run. Especially with Danny throwing a 135 game one? Maybe show up 10 minutes before league starts and you won’t be flirting on the wrong side of 2400 total again.
And while I might seem a little intense right now, that’s because I am.
I SAID I AM
You guys may not realize how difficult a 706 is, but just look again at the individual game totals:

That ain’t no fuckin joke fellas. You have to hit the pocket 11 out of 12 times to be messing around in the 230 range. You can leave so few open frames and you need to stay locked in for the entire series. That means limited smoke breaks, maybe one piss and absolutely no tavern style pizza. Otherwise you’re not creeping over 700 any time soon.
And as I write this, I have one 590 to my name and no 600’s much less a 700. Even as one of the better bowlers you will ever meet or know in your life, I am a full 17% below the 700 mark with a lot of room to grow.
So shoutout to my buddy Jake for his unbelievable performance.
I’ve bowled with him more than anyone in my life and I know it means a lot to his resume and overall body of work. He’s a true craftsman and gamesman in every sense of the terms to the extent that I fully expect a 750 in the next 3 months. That’s the self-improvement addict I’ve come to know and love and it’s the beauty of bowling.
It’s the #1 game for non athletes and my favorite indoor sport to play ALL TIME. That includes basketball and water polo and interpretive dance. You simply cannot find a more complete combination of interests: sports, beer, watching sports on tv, hot pizza, camaraderie, gambling and loose women with checkered pasts. Mix that all together and you have a textbook Tuesday night bowling league in the greater Chicagoland area.
So congrats to Jake on making his special last night. 700 is no joke and I plan on making this a regular celebration.
