I think it’s crazy we don’t do Hall of Fame voting like election coverage in real time. We should have voters submit ballots electronically in a 1-hour window on one day of the year. Then we need a control desk at MLB Network that’s tallying the votes as they come in publicly. They cut to interviews with voters and ask follow up questions. They bring on the former players as they get to 75% of the vote. You interview the guys that didn’t make it and listen to them motherfuck the voters in real-time. We take one of baseball’s greatest dramas and turn it into a real time spectacle. So when shit like this happens. When someone grows the balls to say Ichiro Suzuki isn’t a 1st ballot guy and we are left with this shit burger… we have some kind of public repercussion to shame and humiliate the needledick fuckface who’s mysteriously bound to protecting Ty Cobb’s legacy. Or something like that.
Honestly whatever the case, we need to completely overhaul the Hall of Fame voting process for no other reason than I just can’t listen to grown men bitch about this stuff for such a long period of time. And don’t get me wrong – there’s plenty of worthy outrage over the Hall of Fame process. But we just drag it out for months without any resolution. It’s the biggest circle jerk in professional sports media.
We need to change the song and dance and we need to do it pronto. If this is what it takes so be it. But justice for Ichiro can only be supplied in a way that completely changes how we celebrate our idols in the offseason. It makes too much sense and kinda bothers me that you’re just considering this idea for the first time. So let CarlsBlogs.com lead the way. Let’s get some entertainment value behind the voting and simultaneously guarantee that we NEVER have to put up with this bullshit again.
