Rory McIlroy Has A Huge Dump In His Pants About YouTube Golf And I Don’t Blame Him

Alright so I want to blog about this because I think Rory McIlroy keeps getting more and more fascinating over the years. He’s so weathered and beaten from not cashing a LIV check. He hates himself for being the PGA spear on the grounds of morality only to find out it’s just like any other business. They totally violated his trust and loyalty to where he really thought it was an actual fight about principles related to the sanctity of golf. That this would be a major point in the game’s history and he needed to defend the PGA Tour against it’s rapid demise.

There was a lot of heavy shit going on in Rory’s life a couple years ago, and it was right about the time his competitive flame had all but gone out. And as a social guy who surrendered his entire life to be great, it was obvious he was taking his foot off the gas notwithstanding major appearances. Say what you want about swing changes and getting married and early career success or whatever. Fact remains Rory was slowing down to the point that he one once from 2017-2020.

Then all this LIV stuff dropped and he found himself the face of the game so publicly and so proudly and decisively. All while he’s behind the scene wondering if he even gives a shit about the game in the first place. Think about it like that, and then consider all the LIV drama and stupid bullshit he’s had to respond to for years. All the questions and shit talking and distractions to what should be a pretty peaceful life as a major championship golfer.

You probably don’t pursue that career with the hope of getting into a years-long geopolitical debate with shades of global-terrorism and a touch of foreign monetary policy.

But that’s what golf did to Rory McIlroy and he stood there and took it like the good Northern Irishman he is.

So when you put all of that together, it’s hard to blame Rory McIlroy for not giving one single flying fuck about YouTube golf.

Like legitimately laugh out loud funny to read the exchange on paper.

“How much attention do you pay to YouTube generation?”

“Not much… I’m not of that generation… I would much rather watch competitive golf like this tournament on Saturday and Sunday.”

“Is there any part of it that’s fascinated you about how many eyeballs are on it?”

“Look. I’m happy for the people who enjoy it but I enjoy something else.”

Rory’s blank stare didn’t say it explicitly, but his stare says it all:

4 major championships.

100+ weeks as world #1.

One of 3 guys to win 4 majors by age 25 with Tiger and Jack.

Best European amateur in history.

Only guy to win 3 Fed Ex Cups.

Youngest guy to hit 10 million career earnings on the PGA Europe Tour.

Also the youngest guy to hit 10 million career earnings on the PGA Tour.

Only European to ever win 4 PGA events in a single year.

Only person since Tiger in 2005 to win 4 PGA events in a single year.

One of just two players to be low-am at the Open and then later win the Open. (Tiger)

2 time money-list winner.

4 time scoring champion.

7 Ryder Cup appearances by 35 years-old with 5 wins and 18 points scored

63 majors with 31 top 10s and 18 top 5s

And you want to ask me about YOUTUBE GOLF?

Poor Rory.

For real.

You go through so much shit and people are probably expecting him to want to collaborate with Fat Perez and Grant Horvath just because the views are there.

That’s just so rich to me.

We should be applauding Rory for not slapping this guy in the face for the follow-up.

We’re talking about The Players and this guy expects Rory to have a fun or firm stance on YouTube?

My butt cheeks buddy. My fuckin butt cheeks.
