In A Shocking Twist, Turns Out The Rory McIlroy Heckler Is Actually One Of The Best College Golfers In America

I’m going to meet up with a few old friends today for a couple big pizzas and some college basketball. Before I do though, I wanted to update the Rory McIlroy saga from The Players this week because it’s downright stupendous.

Remember when he got heckled and stole this dude’s phone?

Well turns out that heckler is actually one of the top-ranked junior golfers in the world.

Turns out he starts for the University of Texas and they were on-site for a college golf tournament that had just concluded.

Turns out he had dinner with Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler the night before this happened.

Turns out this kid’s a real fuckin golfer!!!

He literally JUST won the Florida College event thing they were in town for.

Next day you go over to the course and you have a couple heyhowyadoins outside the ropes.

Next thing you know you’re trying to bang McIlroy’s ex wife and get in his head just because you’re riding high on life and playing grab ass with the boys.

I’ve seen it a thousand times.

ESPN – Asked about the incident, Potter told Golf Channel: “Look, I just made a mistake, and I take ownership for it. I apologize for it. That’s about all that needs to be said. … It’s just a good learning experience. Yeah, I apologize.”

A day before the incident, Potter had earned his first NCAA individual victory, beating the field at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club, which is near TPC Sawgrass. Potter posted a final-round 69 and helped the Longhorns rally for a 7-shot win.

Nice thing about being 20 years old is you can just say sorry and move on with your life. Which I think in this case is kinda fair but same time you’re like the best golfer at Texas dude. You should be secure with yourself enough to not have to get a couple cheap laughs from the peanut gallery the morning after you go -10 in a premiere college golf event.

Is that crazy?

He’s maybe 2 years away from playing against Rory McIlroy – so I think he gets a different standard than your traditional fuck head. Like, say for example, me at 20 years old.

Putting myself in his shoes, totally something I would have done.

But if you go to the University of Illinois Baseball bio for me, you won’t find this in the Before College section.

Before College – Luke Potter is the top-ranked player in the Class of 2022 by Golf Channel … three-time Rolex All-American as a junior … 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur semifinalist and 2021 Western Amateur quarterfinalist … won the 2020 Maridoe Amateur at 16 years of age … also claimed the title at the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur in 2020, becoming the youngest winner (16) in the 121-year history of the event … named the state of California’s sophomore athlete of the year in 2020 … recognized as the National High School Golfer of the Year following his freshman season in 2019 … shot a final-round 64 at Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach to win the 2019 California High School state individual title as a freshman while also leading La Costa Canyon to the state team championship … named the 2019 California Freshman Athlete of the Year (all sports), becoming the first golfer since Tiger Woods to earn the accolade.

Given that context I think I call this one a draw.

Rory McIlroy is absolutely broken and needs a week/month/year out of the spotlight.

But Luke Potter shot 64 at Poppy Hills (sounds nice) which means you can’t heckle golfers. You’re simply too good at the sport their playing to be talking shit like a moron.

Leave that shit to the professional assholes like myself.

Official Score: DRAW
