Wake Up With Full Game Highlights From Cub vs. Dodgers On Sunday Night Baseball

Good morning.

Today is Monday April 14th and the Chicago Cubs are in first place, which rocks.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and got a chance to enjoy the Masters. That was my favorite since 2019 and one of the best of all time.

However nothing mattered more than Colin Rea stepping up and shutting down the Los Angeles Dodgers in a spot start so we can get to 11-7 with momentum.

There’s a couple more brutal series ahead this month with:

• Padres
• Phillies
• Dodgers
• Diamondbacks

And then it cools off substantial, which also rocks.

For now I wanted to round up just a couple Cubs and programming notes to kick off the week:

• I owe Ben Brown an apology which is worth the 11am blog spot today
• Justin Steele was declared out for the season and that’s rotten news but not the end of the world for a number of reasons:
  • You can trade for replacement value if you think this year is special
  • You can accept that you’re going to be about 3 games worse without him and then hope to overperform (not recommended)
  • Cade Horton can step up like we anticipated when drafting him in 1st round
  • Jordan Wicks can step up like we anticipated when drafting him in 1st round
• I rank losing Justin Steele as the 8th worst season ending injury the Cubs could sustain behind: Shota, PCA, Kyle Tucker, Seiya, Swanson, Nico, Happ & Busch
• I think there’s no excuse for the Cubs to win the division with or without Justin Steele

In other news:

• First real nice day of the year so soak that up please and get your Vitamin D

• I pulled about 12 hours of landscaping over the weekend and it does amazing thing for your sense of self-worth. Especially when you’re using a blowtorch and diesel fuel to manage the waste. That’s good American living
• I’ve been eating more pork than beef over the last two weeks for the first time since junior high and you can smell it in my farts. I’ve been a big pork guy for a long time but it should never take status over beef in my house
• Speaking of pork, I’m going to Miami in a couple weeks for vacation if anyone has food recommendations
• Trying to go for a very long walk today before the rainfall later this week. Either today or tomorrow I’m looking for about 8 miles
