I saw this today and it made me really happy because I never really liked LaVine. He always seemed like such a diva and then an Ayo story got back to me confirming as such and I never really cared for the guy.
And then a more obvious thing is that LaVine is such a whiny little bitch and I hate watching him play.
Maybe that’s because I grew up with MJ and there’s some inherent standards to the Bulls that only DRose has come close to touching. Or maybe I just think LaVine is a punk cunt.
Either way, the Bulls are 17-13 and playing like a near 50 win team since he left town and that’s awesome.
Another thing that’s awesome is the Bulls have a home playoff game tomorrow night against the Heat and I’m desperate enough to watch and enjoy.
I know that’s fucked up but I’m a fucked up guy.
I’m also a former season ticket holder and dormant looney bin Bulls fan. So it’s an easy mental-place for me to go historically. Only takes a quick flip of the switch and I’m holding the D-Fence sign up at home on the couch. I can go there.
More important though, I think it’s actually the first real sign of hope we’ve had with the Bulls since December 2021 when I made that Christmas song video for Lonzo Ball. That was a good time but it lasted for about 3 days and then the Bulls season promptly fell apart at the seems.
Things feel different right now and that’s largely due to 3 players: Coby White, Matas and Josh Giddey.
Coby is only improving every season and should be on the Bulls until he wants to leave.
Matas looks like a young Dirk where the only thing between him and perennial all star appearances is simply his health.
And while Josh Giddey couldn’t guard your old lady, he’s so unique offensively and a perfect compliment to the pace we need to play at with Matas moving forward.
Simple enough but if you care about the Bulls for one second, you could say this is far worse than the early 2000’s before drafting Deng. You’d really have to go back 20+ years to pick out a more stagnant and hopeless time to be a Bulls fan.
Even though it’s a play-in game, it’s still an opportunity to see these young guys play their dicks off and come together and maybe build some momentum into the offseason. It’s not that unrealistic.
And one step further – maybe the Ishiba brothers give a cupcake deal to the Reinsdorf family for Kevin Durant in good faith for the White Sox majority shares next winter. I’m not above or below those kinda backroom tactics if that’s what it takes to get a superstar in the door.
Until then though, I’m just going to enjoy the Bulls in these playoffs because I’m a sad and pathetic Chicago sports fan who’s experienced enough to know the postseason doesn’t come often around here. So no I don’t care about the shape or form it takes. I’m just cheering for the Bulls.
PS – Best Bulls highlights post DRose and it’s not even close
