Either I’m A Complete Moron Or It Sounds Like Ryan Poles Wants To Trade Down From #10

I don’t know how to react to this because I don’t know how smart Ryan Poles is. I want to believe that he’s smarter than that answer suggests and this is part of a bigger strategy to land their #1 guy. At the same time that could very well be his best attempt at hiding his true intent in which case we’re completely fucked with him as our leader. That’s why I want to believe he’s smarter than the answer. Because taken at face value then it’s a slam dunk the Chicago Bears are trading down from 10 for more picks in this year’s draft.

And I think if you trade this year out of 10, then I want to see the picks in the 2025 draft. I don’t need capital in 2026 and beyond when the window is open on Caleb’s rookie deal. I want the picks now so we can get as many starters and contributors on the field. Especially if we can take some shots on character-issue guys that can make big plays. We need way more of those guys in the locker room now that Eberflus is gone.

Unless you guys think I’m crazy? Seems pretty straight forward to me when you’re talking about a big pool of players and having options to get more guys.

The other alternative is that Ryan Poles is sending a message that he wants to trade down just to raise the price and create a bidding war. He’s telling every other GM today that he wants to take a phone call if you got a guy you like at #10.

HOWEVER. He could then use that phone call to leverage a trade up for Ashton Jeanty which would then complete the full circle of being an extremely stupid idea.

UNLESS Jeanty is a superstar in which case I should admit I forget where we even started in this hypothetical.

The closer we get to draft day the harder all this is to sort out.

So basically what I’m trying to say is I hope Ryan Poles isn’t a complete fucking moron like most of us Bears fans.

Whadabowt trading up for Skatteboo

In other news I think Ryan Poles is probably average but that’s still much better than Ryan Pace. He seems like a nice guy but so is my accountant Mike and we’re not asking him to run Chicago Bears. You know what I mean? Like at some point you have to be good at the job and I really hope that point started this offseason.
