The Cubs play a 3-game series against the San Francisco Giants starting today and I couldn’t think of a better way to start the day. Such a preposterous comeback and a good reminder that we technically own the Giants because they still haven’t recovered from this moment.
Maybe that’s a reach but so was scoring 4 runs in the top of the 9th to win an NLDS. Especially considering the Giants won the WS every even numbered year starting in 2010. A lot of people said 2016 would be the same and alas those people were wrong.
So welcome to town Giants fans and I hope you guys get swept.
Some other programming notes here as we get back to business from a week in Miami
- Miami rocks. I want to blog about that later. Specifically how similar it is to Chicago with respect to good food and hospitality and being on the water with a river penetrating deep into the financial district. I have a lot of commentary but for now I’m limiting it to just saying it’s good to be back in God’s country in a comfortable position to watch the Chicago Cubs
- I laid 36 bags of mulch before I left town and couldn’t be happier with the results upon returning. Big limitations to the weed growth and that’s exactly why you lay the fuckin mulch in the first place boys
- Monday Morning Cubs show will be recorded today, Monday morning around 10am with the legend Tim Mahoney. It’s audio only right now until I get the new YouTube. You can find it in links below. It’s a good and fair show.
- I have a lot of thoughts about the lineup changes we’re seeing from the Cubs. Overall it’s hard to bitch after a 4-2 week since we first moved Dansby down to the 8 spot. I know the competition is weaker but it’s still MLB. They’re still good players on the other team that do it for a living too.
- If we went 4-2 every week, we’d win 108 games
- I am upset about Shota’s hamstring but that could be a lot worse in the grand scheme. Example: Triston Casas from the Red Sox tore his Patellar Tendon off the bone last week in a full blown RUPTURE. That guy won’t walk right for another 7 months and even then another 6-7 of rehab. So while unrelated completely, I’m inclined to look at nastier injuries and thank the Baseball Gods that it’s just a hamstring pull/strain/tweak.
- It gives an opportunity for Cade Horton to fluidly step up and make his MLB debut after destroying AAA competition to begin this year
- Cade Horton’s a first round draft pick in 2022 draft from Oklahoma. He was originally a shortstop which is evident in his arm action that closely resembles Drew Brees. I’ll blog about that shit later. For now just know he’s a big time competitor that wants to make his friends back home in Oklahoma proud
- He also throws 98 with excellent stuff and command
- He should be announced in the next 24 hours I would assume once we know more about Shota’s injury
- I’m eager to see Counsell’s lineup today after getting waxed by Freddy Peralta yesterday. That’s going to happen against good pitching and historically this lineup has come out and smashed the day after hanging a bad performance. I think today is no different but I’m also extremely biased.
- More coming on the Giants, Cade Horton and the lineup both on the blog today and on the Monday Morning Cubs Show. You can find it here:
