It’s July 3rd And The Chicago Cubs Lead MLB With A +108 Run Differential

I hope you guys are having a good ewek and ready for a great holiday weekend.

Just a quick note here before I begin my festivities that the Cubs are now #1 in MLB with a +107 run differential and the only thing I’m wondering is if that’s good enough for some of you clowns?

I’ve heard so much complaining about this baseball team the last month it makes me sick. Like every year we just have a good baseball team that wins 100 games. And every year we demand excellence. And every year the Cubs are good – so when they don’t play well, our expectations are shattered and you can cry online about it.

It happened last night.

Bibee had runners on 2nd and 3rd, no out.

He strikes out the side including Dansby, Busch and Carson Kelly.

THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT. People say. Out loud. Online.

WE NEED A SHORTSTOP WHO CAN HIT. People say. Out loud. Online.

Nevermind Bibee has 415 career strikeouts in 415 career innings. Nevermind he is a MLB pitcher who strikes people out. Or that strikeouts happen over 20% of the time in baseball. Or that it’s just a hard game.

And obviously I’m frustrated in the moment.

But so many people overreact over the line where you’d think they never watched, played or cared about baseball. Like they’re watching the sport for the very first time and again it makes me sick to my stomach.

So this is one of those moments I just want to reiterate that the 2025 Cubs are special team with unique camaraderie and a lights out offense. Consistently ranked a top 3 team in MLB and doing so without the top two pitchers in the organization and a slew of bums rounding things up at the bottom.

At what point do we start to enjoy ourselves? Because I was there last night big time. That’s one of my favorite Cubs regular season games since April this year against the Dodgers. We played our balls off and battled adversity to get a 1 run win and a series victory over a historically competent group of ballplayers.

Is that enough?

Probably not and that’s just the nature of the business. Go read my Max Homa blog from yesterday for more context about people complaining online. Without being the deepest guy in the universe, it’s a pretty solid message about the relation between misery in-between your ears and being a troll cunt.

I try to remember that broader theme when people complain about the Cubs but sometimes I can’t help it.

So now here I am, complaining about those who complain about the Cubs. Which is pretty awkward if I’m shooting you straight so let’s be positive for a quick minute.

I said yesterday I think it’s my 2nd favorite Cubs team ever. Bold statement but it’s supported with conviction and experience. The last time I felt this good about a roster was 9 years ago when we won the World Series.

And I don’t think it’s fleeting.

I think it’s getting stronger every single game/series/week into the months. And all this is before Jed Hoyer upgrades the roster at the trade deadline with any selection of about half-a-dozen MLB ready prospects and all the money to makeup new contracts for the year.

So with that in mind and on the heels of a series sweep against the Guardians into a 1:20pm day game tomorrow at Wrigley against the Cardinals… let me just say again that the Cubs are #1 in MLB with a +107 run differential.

If that’s not good enough then go find the bottom of a Roman candle.

Until then everyone have a safe weekend and don’t forget to the Cubs are fuckin ROLLING BABY
