An Argument For Ryan Pressly

I’m recording the MMCS with Mahoney as I publish this blog. And we’re actively talking about Ryan Pressly in the show right now and figured it would be worthy to give this stand alone attention. Nothing huge here just a quick mini blog about something that’s important.

Ryan Pressly stepping up as a late inning guy is not talked about at all and that’s been an awesome transition out of a bad situation.

I think a lot of people… possible all of them… thought Ryan Pressly was washed after giving up 8 runs on 19 pitches against the Giants in early May.

But since then he’s really taken on a role he owned in the earlier part of his career – late inning shut down however you need it. And to see him embrace it again after losing the closer role has been refreshing and indicative of his professionalism.

He’s awesome and has been for a long time. Breaking ball command is only getting sharper and I think at his age he’s actually warming up as the season gets going. So if you see him put up kind of monster peripherals, don’t be surprised.

For more on Ryan Pressly and the Cubs bullpen, subscribe to the MMCS or just check us out on Spotify if that’s easier. We appreciate it.
