I know it’s opening day and we got a lot of baseball to talk about but I’d be remiss not to point out that the Chipp Inn is now taking credit and debit card. So go check that out if you’re in Chicago and you like dive bars.
Chipp Inn is sweet because it’s technically just a house in the middle of West Town. It’s not on a major intersection or on a busy street.
Inside is perfect.
And forever it’s been a cash only joint until recently. So go take advantage and support a local business.
In other news, I’ve been meaning to introduce an Award Show Series for bars in Chicago but I don’t have a camera man or the time to edit the project. But one day we’ll get there and the premise is like Michellin Stars except I’m giving out Cold Ones.
You get one Cold One or two Cold Ones but I rarely give out two Cold Ones. Mostly just one Cold One and in this case Chipp Inn would definitely get one Cold One. It’s a special bar in a special neighborhood with consistent foot traffic at all hours of they day. One of the more judge free zones in Chicago and that includes the regulars. Nobody gives a fuck if you want to go int here at 11am on a Wednesday and drink 6 MGDs. I know from experience. It’s a great place.
Not because it’s cool and hip and unique. But because it’s laid back and casual and dark and everything you want from a neighborhood tavern.
So go check out Chipp Inn when you get a chance. Tell them it’s your first time and ask the bartender if you can buy them a drink or a shot when you sit down. Then just sit there and enjoy yourself because it’s an awesome place with great people.
