Cam Smith got his first career RBI last night and I couldn’t believe it. How did it take the best player of all time in the history of the sport 7 full games to register 1 measly RBI?
He’s got 10 strikeouts in 24 plate appearances to begin his career. And before I go down the path of shitting on him, I think we can all agree Cam Smith is early to the big leagues. As such it would be extra bush league for me to dump on him like he sucks for hitting .143 in his first 7 games.
Instead I’d rather just point out that Kyle Tucker now leads the National League in the following categories:
- Games
- Hits
- Doubles
- HRs
- Runs
- RBIs
- bWAR
- fWAR
- Total bases
- Intentional walks
- CHASE RATE

Obviously a developing situation but right now you could say Kyle Tucker is having a better season.
Fortunately I’m on my way to Wrigley right now to see for myself.
One thing to remember is that we’re obviously going to regret this trade and this blog and this take. But right now is not that time because Cam Smith is young and sucks and Kyle Tucker is still a Cub.
So for now, just try to enjoy it.
