CHICAGO — Many Chicagoland residents will see a higher utility bill this summer.
Customers of ComEd, the primary electric utility in Chicagoland and the largest in Illinois, will see an increase to the “Capacity Charge” beginning June 1, the company says on its website.
“The ‘Capacity Charge’ is included as a portion of all customers’ monthly bills,” ComEd says, “either as a separate line item for hourly pricing participants or within the electricity supply charge for default fixed-price-rate customers.”
The charge is determined by ComEd’s supplier and is “passed directly to customers by ComEd with no mark-up,” a spokesman for the utility said, adding that the average monthly residential customer is expected to see an increase of about $10.60 to their bill.
Classic ComEd tactic here and a friendly reminder that they’re the worst people on planet earth. From the lady on the phone to the guy fixing your shit. There isn’t one decent person in the ComEd ecosystem and I don’t give a fuck what your uncle Gary does for them. I have so many bad moments under my belt with those people that I’ll literally go to war with you on this topic right now.
Fuck your uncle and everyone who works at ComEd.
I can’t even begin to understand what a Capacity Charge is based on this article. And determined by the supplier? What does that even mean?
My understanding is that it’s ComEd’s power grid and they don’t know how to manage it while progressively spending billions on new grids that don’t work now and likely never will.
My understanding is they suck.
So why don’t we have more choice in our utility provider? Why is ComEd propped up as the only option in Northern Illinois for electricity?

This guy.
The only reason you’re getting sandbagged with increased charges before turning on the AC is because Mike Madigan authorized it before his sentencing hearing on June 13th.
If we’re going to point fingers let’s be big boys and point our fucking fingers.
Can ComEd squeeze off one last bribe disguised as capacity charges to cover defense fees? That’s the only logical explanation I can figure out from this. One last gravy train for the Speaker before he does 15-20 years at a minimum security bed and breakfast in downtown Springfield.
And whether or not that’s true, I just want to complain about the electric bill because it’s fucking bullshit and I want to get that off my chest. I could probably learn about the power grid but that’s not nearly as fun or efficient as just calling major bullshit on these increased charges and lumping it into Mike Madigan’s corruption charges. Because let me be clear, this all feels so dirty and corrupt.
So let me just say it again.
Fuck you ComEd.
