Donald Trump Pardons Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich

X.com – President Donald Trump is expected to issue a full pardon to Rod Blagojevich, the former Governor of Illinois, on Monday. This decision comes nearly five years after Trump commuted Blagojevich’s 14-year prison sentence for attempting to sell Barack Obama’s former Senate seat. Blagojevich served eight years before the commutation in 2020. The pardon has sparked a variety of reactions on social media, reflecting broader debates on political accountability and justice.

I think this is kinda awesome news if you assume the fact that Rod Blagojevich is one of many corrupt politicians. If you believe generally that the system is corrupt and filled with scumbags, then Blagojevich’s problem is that he was stupid and got caught. And iyou think he’s one of only a few amoral elected officials, then you’re probably an idiot in other areas of life.

Personally I think Rod Blagojevich has an equilibrium-amount of stupidity. It’s the perfect intersection of smart enough to be elected but dumb enough to get prison time. Smart enough to go to Northwestern but dumb enough to work in state politics under Mike Madigan. Literally the perfect storm of being moron because he’s dangerous enough to places and reckless enough to burn them down when he gets there.

Now that he’s being pardoned, I’m curious if that means he can run for office again? Because I really think he would make a compelling alderman or at least some kind of community organizer in Ravenswood at a time Chicago could use the national muscle. The fact Trump is signing off means he believe Blago is a good/wronged man, so why not go one step further and continue to curry favor with the commander in chief? Why not start the comeback tour right now?

Someone needs to hold Brandon Johnson accountable in city hall and that somebody could be a former convicted felon named Rod Blagojevich. You have to figure prison time only makes the knife that much sharper and the crayon that brighter. And you have to figure that only makes Rod a better politician in the long run.

And just a recap: he only went to jail for selling Obama’s senate seat for campaign contributions. Some say he didn’t even collect the money too. It was all one big witch hunt that quite frankly got over prosecuted.

And if that’s too political for you, then just consider that the Clintons will never come close to seeing a jail cell much less a federal indictment much less one hour of the scrutiny Blagojevich has lived under for nearly two decades now. Objectively speaking that’s not particularly fair.

On the bright side, I think Blagojevich is the first Celebrity Apprentice contestant to get a full presidential pardon from a Celebrity Apprentice host. I checked the record books and couldn’t find another instance of a president hosting a reality television show and then pardoning one of the contestants. So that’s pretty bad ass.

PS – So is the entire conversation with Rod Blagojevich and Joe Rogan. If you have 3 hours to kill, by all means…
