This is a quick hitter that should impart a small smile on your face.
It starts with Shohei Ohtani hitting a bomb in Washington DC last night in the 3rd inning and MLB tweeting it out:
Specifically, calling it a GAME TYING HOMER caption in the top of the 3rd of a 2-0 game when you’re talking about the best player in the world on the defending world champs? That would be too aggressive for the Dodgers social media team much less the league office account.
So if anything it’s extremely weird.
Some even categorize it as Dick Riding from Rob Manfred’s administration.
I wouldn’t take it that far, but obviously it’s a little bush league.
So the Nationals responded:
post dylan crews single

POST IT MLB
Harmless trash talking but objectively amusing. Especially because, again, Shohei Dick Riding is at an all time high and still peaking.
So what about our nation’s capital’s top prospect and American born national champion Dylan Crews? Does he get any respect from Rob Manfred’s league?
And then what about James Wood in the bottom of the 7th? Surely MLB has the same level of enthusiasm for a much more significant homer, right?
…
“some… power?” with a slutty emoji?
Have a little respect

Again. Objectively amusing stuff from a couple social media professionals that probably can’t even throw much less hold a baseball.
And after holding onto win, the Nationals finally got their wish with some recognition for the Dylan Crews single in the 2nd inning.
This is great shit and a fair reminder that there isn’t too much animosity in baseball. Most trash talking’s good natured and I think that’s different than the feuding in NFL or NBA. Even though this is with the league office, generally speaking baseball does the best job busting balls without taking things too personally which is ingrained in the sport. Putting each other down is like a good bunt defense. Any team worth a shit is elite at both.
