It Sure Sounds Like Colin Cowherd Almost Died Today Live On Air (And That Would Suck)

Awful Announcing An unspecified illness forced Colin Cowherd to abruptly leave his Monday episode of The Herd on FS1 and Fox Sports Radio during the first segment.

On the heels of arguably the biggest trade in NBA history, with the Dallas Mavericks sending Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package including Anthony Davis, Cowherd was surely eager for his Monday monologue. But it was cut short when Cowherd announced he wasn’t feeling well, sending the show to a more than seven-minute commercial break.

I know it’s Flu season but this is still absolutely terrifying

Mostly because you can see and hear him falling apart at the very beginning. Like if I didn’t tell you something was wrong and just showed you that clip, you would tell me Colin Cowherd sounds like a jabroni who shouldn’t be talking into a microphone. Or that he was just extremely drunk the night before. That would be your knee jerk reaction but obviously something is not good/very wrong:

The Herd returned after a long commercial break, with co-host Jason McIntyre sitting in Cowherd’s chair. McIntyre told the audience Cowherd was resting in his dressing room and would hopefully return for Tuesday’s show.

Hopefully just a head cold because I actually love the fact that Colin Cowherd is moving to Chicago full time to spend more time with his wife’s family. That’s a real solid addition to the city culture even if he’s just another national media guy taking advantage of the central time zone. Whatever the real reasons are, I am steadfast in my respect for Cowherd.

It’s actually remarkable that he can Vin Scully a radio show for hours every single day. You have to be such a wired animal to pull off that internal dialogue to make it work. Mannerisms and criticisms aside, I think it’s the hardest and most impressive job anyone does in national sports media. He just sits and goes and that’s the show. If there’s 4 billion guys in the world, he might be the only one capable of making this show. I really think that much of him so hopefully he doesn’t die on us here before officially moving into his new Winnetka mansion. That would suck.

Speaking of mansions, I think Winnetka is one of the better suburbs to go Chicago mansion. And let’s just further assume we’re not considering Chicago neighborhoods like Gold Coast and Lincoln Park and some of the classics. Let’s keep our focus specific to the Chicago suburbs. In that case then I would say near Northshore is your best bet for a quality multi million dollar house.

Oakbrook does a good job out west but it’s tacky. That’s new money and new money just doesn’t hit as much as 12,000 square feet in Kennilworth. That’s because the Northshore does such a better job of harboring entitlement and looking down on other people, otherwise known as Mansion Culture.

Granted, Hinsdale has some great Mansion Culture, but it’s got too much run-off from I-55 and the surrounding industrial corridor. It’s simply too accessible and thus not rich and fancy enough. You need to maximize visitor inconvenience if you’re going to establish great Mansion Culture and again, the Northshore has that in spades.

Probably not going to find too many irish pubs but you do have a good Barnaby’s in Northbrook and that’s an awesome thin crust.

Hopefully one day Colin Cowherd is able to enjoy it in Chicago. Until then get well soon you old dog.
