Lineup Preview Tuesday June 3rd: Cubs (37-22) vs. Nationals (28-31)

The Cubs are in the 2nd inning at the time of this blog and that’s okay. I just wanted to get the lineup preview on the blog that’s the whole point of this blog?

The word blog can get confusing sometimes.

Nevertheless here’s a blog of my thoughts on the lineup:

  1. Ian Happ needs more respect from the general populace after the amount of time he’s spent doing a good job for the Cubs. Like at some point people just need to shut the fuck up and be cool about the fact that it’s a very hard game and he’s typically pretty good at it.
  2. Seiya Suzuki is a good outfielder but not as good as Kyle Tucker who is out tonight after a bad slide. So Seiya goes to right and I just hope it doesn’t come down to him making a running catch in a late inning. Otherwise he’s smoking the baseball.
  3. PCA is hitting 3rd for the first time in his MLB career and that’s splendid to see.
  4. Carson Kelly probably shouldn’t be hitting clean up but this has been a weird season overall and I say we just let it ride til his wheels literally fall off
  5. Michael Busch has a slow bat but insane barrel rate and that’s the sign of a good controlled hitter. One of the more underrated players in the NL Central largely due to a quiet discipline that rarely falters.
  6. Dansby Swanson is always good for a big hit in the tightest spot.
  7. Nico Hoerner should hit 7th and nowhere else because I love his late game RISP opportunities and low strikeout rate. It’s generally perfect and I don’t like changing that up when it’s been so good for this long.
  8. Justin Turner is heating up and I’m predicting his best month of the season comes this June. Just feels right.
  9. Matt Shaw needs to play harder and I’m just going to leave it at that.

Go Cubs.
