Not trying to be lazy by any stretch of the imagination here in the 5:30pm slot as much as I’m just repurposing a lineup preview with a lot of product placement before the Cubs first pitch. Kind of a longer day as I explained in the morning due to heavy storm damage on the oak tree population at the farm. We’re okay by evening but a lot of literally heavy lifting around here.
Meanwhile the Cubs have some heavy lifting tonight against Mackenzie Gore who has a terrible name. Sounds like a fat chick.
This is the Cubs lineup:
- Ian Happ should get it going soon so everyone can shut the fuck up already
- Seiya Suzuki should start the all star game and that’s a good test for how much the country of Japan really supports their MLB players
- Carson Kelly has a .491 OPS in his last 17 games and that’s downright terrible
- PCA is a monster and we’re lucky to watch him play every day
- Dansby Swanson is the most underrated player on every field he plays on and I love that he’s my shortstop
- Nico Hoerner is the best 2-out, 2-strike hitter we’ve seen since a young Anthony Rizzo started choking up. It’s impossible to explain how much I like him in the 6/7 spot of the Cubs batting order
- Michael Busch hits bombs despite a bottom 20% bat speed and that’s because he’s a very smart and disciplined hitter with tremendous fundamentals
- Justin Turner is in the lineup again tonight
- Matt Shaw needs to earn it before I sit here and suck his D so don’t think that’s ever going to change. I want more from the rookie and that absolutely means tonight.
Realistically we could easily lose this game which is why I’m so interested in watching it. We’ve traditionally done well against top end pitchers this year but Mackenzie Gore is different in that he’s extremely filthy from the left side. So it should be a good match up until we get into the Nationals bullpen at which point I expect blood.
Go Cubs.
Great game after a full day of yard work. Enjoyed a few Pacificos while watching. Need to work on the outside TV setup
