Rounding Up All The Moves That Made The Chicago Bears Back-To-Back Offseason Champs

Nice graphic, but FanDuel can blow me.

This is a round up blog where I’ll source and share as much of the internet’s opinion about the Bears moves from yesterday.

Obviously I love all of it because I live dangerously and that means being willing to get my heart broken once again. So don’t necessarily consider me the most objective source on the internet. I’m a diehard Bears fan first and I can be smart about it later.

Worth mentioning I take the complete opposite approach with the Cubs and that’s because I simply know too much. I’m burdened with expertise and insight to the extent that I don’t even know if I like it that much. I love it, sure. But do I even enjoy watching a baseball game when I’m up everyone’s ass for every little thing?

I enjoy it. Just maybe not as much or not the way I would prefer, and that’s actually on my list of things to do this year. I need to bring my obsession with baseball and the Cubs closer to the way I feel about the Bears without completely abandoning my intellect. There’s a good balance out there and I think it starts with just trying to enjoy the games without prioritizing the outcome.

Or in other terms, take it fuckin easy buddy.

That’s closer to where I find myself with the Bears, even if they’re depressing and they crush me and break my heart. Even so, I’ll still take an entire day with my dad and buddies at Soldier Field in shitty weather and have a blast. I’ll still smoke a pork shoulder and line a cooler with domestics for the backyard outdoor viewing experience. I’ll take the Bears team over because it’s about time we hang 30.

I don’t know if I can get to the same place with the Cubs because I can be such a crabby pants.

And nobody likes a crabby pants.

So let’s turn it over to some “experts” on the Bears grades yesterday and then I’ll see you at the bottom.

My Analysis:

  • Grady Jarrett sounds pretty old and tired and sounds like people don’t like the move. Ipso facto, I love it because it’s hard to motivate a 10-year veteran that just signed a $43.5M contract. One of the best ways you could do it I guess is tell him he sucks after signing the deal. The reaction saying he’s old and washed is only going to make him better in my opinion and that’s good shit from Ryan Poles. I never thought of that before myself.
  • Deyo has a very high ceiling from the sounds of it
  • Drew Dalman is basically the best free agent signing in Chicago Bears history based on the way people are talking about him. I don’t know if that’s valid or because of the supply/demand issues in Free Agency that make Drew Dalman more coveted than reality. In either respect, it’s good to know Caleb Williams has a legitimate professional to work with at center and not a rotating circus of auditions.
  • The draft is actually becoming way more fascinating then it’s been in years for Bears fans and that’s because we’re not trying to fix everything in one pick. We can actually take the best player available, or even take a reach on an offensive lineman considering the development infrastructure Ryan Poles quickly put together. The trenches are shaping up to be a strength and that’s when you can take a chance adding someone who might need a little more seasoning. The guys the Bears have added can help plenty and I think that’s really the most underrated part about all of this.

PS – I hope I don’t offend anyone rounding up the content from other sources. I just think it’s an easier experience to scroll through the insight. For more breakdowns just click those links and you can go right to the horse’s ass.
