Not Too Shabby: The Cubs Have A New Peach Logo

I saw this on social media and was at first surprised because we don’t sell a lot of peaches at Wrigley Field.

But then I realized it has to do with the All Star game and sending Cub players to Atlanta aka the Peach State.

Not shabby.

I don’t think it’s great though. Like that’s not particularly clear and feels like an overreach from the graphics department. As if someone has a little too much say in the way we message and that someone might have an affinity for peaches or southern living. In either event, it could be a lot worse.

With that in mind, here’s my picks to go to the All Star game for the Cubs.

Starters:

  • Kyle Tucker
  • PCA
  • Nico

Reserves:

  • Dansby
  • Seiya
  • Carson Kelly
  • Busch

I think that’s actually pretty fair and I’m happy to argue with anyone.

Nico as a starter might be a reach but that’s where we flex our muscle with being an international fan base.

Seiya also has an argument to be a starter and quite frankly that’s a question for the people of Japan. They show up for Ohtani. Will they do the same for Seiya now that he’s leading the league in RBI’s?

And finally why do we care so much about the All Star game when talking about good players? Why does that come up so much as a sign of quality when it only measures the first 80-90 games of a season and is mostly reflected by fan/popular opinion? I feel like that should be weighed differently or at least introduce a season long all star list at the end of the every year. As it stands right now I think All Star Games are completely overrated when someone is trying to explain why a player is good or belongs in the hall of fame or deserves more money. It’s so subjective and hardly covers half the plate appearances so spare me when you want to tell me someone’s been to 10 straight etc.

Even worse when we’re talking about pitchers but that’s a different blog.

For now just a heads up that we do have a peach logo now and I think it’s pretty cool.

Probably a new jersey or expensive hat coming to an instagram swipe up story near you soon.
