Today is Tuesday May 20th and I woke up angry the Cubs lost that game last night.
Although a couple weeks ago I promised you guys I would chill out. So maybe I just need to shut the fuck up and move on with my life.
But at the same time you have a 7-6 lead against the Marlins with 2 outs and nobody on base against the 9-hitter, you definitely expect to win that game 100 out of 100 times.
So it’s completely understandable if you threw a remote or punched a wall last night. That walk-off happened so quickly I couldn’t even register it in real time.
So other comments/observations
- Every hitter 5-9 registered at least 2 hits including Matt Shaw
- Prior to Palencia blowing it, the Cubs bullpen had 14.2 innings and 1 ER over the last 4 games
- I wish the Cubs had a real closer for the 8th season in a row now. Wade Davis is the last trustworthy guy I can remember and that’s kinda terrible
- Ben Brown is a reliever and I’m convinced based on his postgame interview where he sounded like the biggest pussy talking about Bad Luck and They Hit Good Pitches and a bunch of shit nobody worth anything in this game ever says. I hate that attitude. It’s such young guy trash. You simply didn’t do enough to win the game and you’re going to sit there and blame it on a thousand other things? Just say you’re going to pitch better next time and you’re really mad. That’s the kind of attitude that succeed long-term in the big leagues – not the other way around.
- But then saying that, I don’t think he’d be a good reliever either because it’s still a weak attitude
- Ben Brown is also lacking a chin bone which you might scoff at but that’s a big deal in baseball. Strong chins make great baseball players. Look at all the good ones and you’ll see great chins.
- I think Dansby Swanson ends up my favorite non-homegrown Cub of all time
- We have two more games in Miami and then we’re off Thursday before 3 games in Cinci
- I’m waiting for people to pitch PCA inside
- I think those who are complaining about Kyle Tucker are the dumbest people in the world. Things almost got a little hectic last night in the postgame. People were complaining left and right about his slump. And then I remind you he has a 128 wRC+ in the same May he’s only hitting .233 and you still don’t get it? I’m convinced baseball fans don’t understand how hard the game is and more so that Cubs fans are just complete morons. Not all of us but there’s so many stupid motherfuckers talking about this team that I’m losing faith in the broader scope of humanity. How can anyone be that dumb?
