Andre Curbelo got kicked off the Southern Miss basketball team yesterday, which ultimately concludes his college basketball career.
My first thought was that I had no idea he still had eligibility remaining after transferring to his 3rd school. I thought he moved on to the Puerto Rican league or was completely removed from basketball. So it was a double surprise: I was shocked to see he got kicked off a team I didn’t even know he was on.
My next thought was that Andre Curbelo is one of my favorite Illinois watches of all time – any sport or athlete from any era. Curbelo brought so much energy and excitement and creativity. Like when Steve Nash went to the Suns in 2005 and won MVP despite only averaging 15 points per game. He would dribble circles around the defense and then make an obvious wide open pass and you’d think HOW THE HELL DID HE MAKE EVERYONE LOOKS SO DUMB
That’s how it felt watching Curbelo and I’ll always love him for it even if he’s a terrible teammate.
So let’s start the week with some good vibes and some good highlights.
In some programming news:
This is a big week for Sterk Family Farms launch so I’m going to scale it down to 5-7 blogs per day while we finish up preparations.
I think the hard launch and announcement will happen on March 1st.
Thank you to everyone for your support and let’s have ourselves a nice little week.
