Wake Up With Cubs vs. Nationals Game Highlights (6/3/25) | MLB Highlights

Little bit of a later morning than we like and that’s because we had some maintenance this morning after a night of big storms. That’s the trade off for living in the middle of the woods. Some times it rains hard and there’s approximately 57 tree branches that need to be delivered to the burn pile. So excuse me for taking care of some business around Sterk Family Farms to get the day started.

One thing on my mind is a recurring video series where I break down something specific with the Cubs. Right now I like Nico Hoerner a lot and I bought this video switch board that should help. Problem is it historically takes me so long to edit video because I’m not a traditional video editor. I can still do it but it just kinda blows, especially editing your own source material because it makes the process rather cringeworthy. So these are the things on my mind that I’m working through because I want a good piece of video content to go with the MMCS every week.

Another thing on my mind is doing a weekend preview show on the MMCS with Mahoney that’s only about 30 minutes. Problem there is you kinda compromise the Monday shows if you slide in the middle of the week with an update. As such it has to be short and segmented and follow a traditional outline so it doesn’t turn into two average shows. Right now the MMCS is rolling and very good – on par with early day passionate RLR episodes. There’s something really good there and I’m just kinda figuring out what a good next step would be as the season progresses. I’m open to ideas if you want to share them and as always, I’m not hard to find.

Some other stuff:

  • Mackenzie Gore is pitching today and he’s very good
  • Cubs are the first team this year to hit +100 run differential ahead of the Yankees at +99 right now
  • I think we could take the #1 seed in the NL
  • Shota Imanaga returns in a couple weeks – the Cubs are 5-0 in the games he’s missed
  • The Cubs are 6-3 in Colin Rea starts for Justin Steele
  • That’s a combined 11-3 in starts missed by your top two pitchers since they got injured and most of those starts have cost a combine $5.0M to fulfill
  • We are ROLLING baby don’t you forget it
