Happy Memorial Day and I hope you guys are having a good weekend.
I wanted to circle back this morning with some highlights from yesterday’s game with a couple observations and announcements alike starting with The Most Important Stuff:
- The Monday Morning Cubs Show will be released tomorrow morning due to the rare Monday 1:20pm game on this federal holiday. It will be a better show if we record for tomorrow morning after today’s game.
- The Cubs are 12 games over .500 for the first time since September 6th, 2023
- I have to fix my tractor today and that means gerry rigging a tractor lift out of cinder blocks and wood planks. I’ve never done this before so just a heads up that’s the kinda shit I’m working on these days
- I saw Mission Impossible last night and while there’s some things I don’t love, it’s overall a sensational thrill ride that left me quite literally on the edge of my seat.
Cubs Observations:
- I’m over Reese McGuire jerking off jokes after just one game. I figured it wouldn’t take very long, and this was obviously accelerated by him hitting two pivotal homeruns in his first career game as a Cub. But overall I don’t need to bury a dead horse with a stick and that’s where we’re at with Reese McGuire cranking it jokes. I got it out of my system yesterday and you guys are encouraged to join me.
- We got major oblique issues that need to be investigated. Everyone on the Cubs has bad obliques. If you go back 2 years quite literally every Cub from now and then has suffered an oblique injury and I don’t know how to explain it other than we should probably take steroids if this is going to be such a big problem
- I’m inclined to say that we need to get a starting pitcher after watching Ben Brown pitch like shit yesterday. We needed one anyways but Ben Brown is just accelerating that conversation. Is there any comparison between him and Cade Horton at this point? That’s why it’s so frustrating watching BB stink up the room. He’s miles behind where he needs to be as a young starting pitcher.
- I want to see the Cubs trade for Zac Gallen and I’m happy to explain the why and how behind that. Especially with where the Diamondbacks are as an organization and needing to reload a farm system to support some of their bigger contracts.
- We need to sweep the Rockies. I never say that but we need to sweep them.
Miscellaneous Announcements:
- Farmers market season starts in 5 weeks I think. There’s some markets open now but we’re waiting for the 2nd half of the summer to announce a new product and branding. It’s a fun project behind the scenes and of course you can support us any time at SterkFamilyFarms.com
- Way too chilly for my sensibilities
- I’ll have a lighter blog day today but we’re still going to post some stuff because it’s Monday and that’s a promise I make to you guys on Mondays
- Subscribe to the Monday Morning Cubs Show so you guys don’t miss tomorrow’s episode
- More on Ben Brown and the pitching staff later today…
