Wake Up With Goose’s New Tiny House Concert (And My Take On Phish)

Mahoney and I love this band. It took me longer to get there than Mahoney but I’m here and it feels great.

For those heavily familiar with this blog, we like the Tiny Desk concert series from NPR a lot.

Same time though that’s been done a 1,000,000 times. To the extent that Juvenile is performing Back That Up (acoustic).

So let me do my part in just raising awareness for both Goose and Tiny House concerts. Both things are wonderful.

In other news, Phish is coming to Chicago this weekend and I’m on the fence if I want to go to the United Center for a walking zombie fest again. I went a couple years ago and it was the most intimidating concert going experience of my life. That includes the mosh pit for Rage Against The Machine and lil Durk in a true southside garage.

I don’t know what drugs people in the Phish crowd take but I don’t want any of them. Like at all. Can’t even think of what mental state you need to be in to seek that kinda high but let me tell you guys. It’s extremely fucked up. Truly Zombie Hippies.

Same time though they covered No Quarter by Led Zeppelin into a 20-minute Fluffhead and I’ve never been happier in my entire life. The lights. The camaraderie with my brothers. The Cuban missile sized dogwalker to open the 2nd set. It was so fucking good that I swear I talked to God on the way home and he was basically telling me to spend more time following Phish.

I do the best I can but it’s so hard. There’s so many inside jokes. So many things I will never understand or try to understand. So much singing along and Trey-isms and glow sticks raining from the heavens. They certainly don’t make it easy.

But somewhere in their shows you will completely lose yourself to the performance. More than any band I have witnessed and it’s nearly impossible to explain until your standing underneath this waterfall of euphoria as Page scales two keyboards at once while Trey massages parts of your brain you never knew existed.

So i’m trying to figure out if I want to go Friday but haven’t decided yet. I’ll try to keep you guys posted.

In the meantime, checkout Goose. Even if I convert just one of you, it will be worth it to my soul. I love those guys.
