Happy Friday, which is a term I absolutely detest but cannot avoid saying on the heels of our 2nd week of CarlsBlogs.com.
This week’s Wake Up series focused on performances, from juggling to the Super Bowl disaster, and now finishes with Bon Folds playing an original classic with his (in my opinion) hardest solo.
It’s somewhat-relevant news this week because Ben Folds recently stepped down from an advisor position with the Kennedy Center over POLITICS!
Boooooo politics
Important to remember: it’s his personal choice and has no impact on the quality of his piano playing or general musical ability. He’s fantastic and #2 on my ALL TIME rankings behind Dave Matthews. He inspired me so much that I taught myself how to play the piano – albeit very poorly.
I saw Ben Folds for the first time this past year with one of my oldest friends and it was nothing short of magical.
Unfortunately he did not play this song, which is probably my favorite in his entire catalogue. So it gets recognition this morning as our 5th and final Wake Up of Performance Week.
In that spirit and on the subject of programming, I’ve refined a publishing schedule that I’ll implement next week based on what I’ve figured out the first two weeks on CarlsBlogs.com.
- Week 1 was 10 blogs a day starting at 8am and then 9:30am, and then every hour on the half hour until 5:30pm where we finish with MILFS
- Week 2 was 9 blogs a day Monday-Wednesday starting at 8am with a blog posted every 1:15 until 6pm where we finished with MILFS
- On Thursday (yesterday) we went back to every hour on the half hour just to see how that would feel and I liked it a lot
- Week 3 will be
- Monday-Thursday – 11 blogs starting at 7:30am and on the hour every hour until 5:30pm.
- Friday will be 7 blogs starting at 7:30am and go every 90 minutes finishing with a Happy Hour blog
Some thoughts:
- I think a blog has to be frequently updated throughout the day in a consistent schedule for it to be a real blog with a real purpose
- I think that’s both good and bad, but the good outweighs the bad right now
- I think it will be about 30% Cubs once baseball starts with a daily PreGame Notes Blog
- I think we’ll add some contributors as we go and it makes sense
- I think this will be very fun and I’m beyond grateful for the support I’ve received
