Cubs got waxed yesterday and that’s okay because it’s a new week. So let’s talk about it.
We’re back on the blog as regularly scheduled this week after a MONSTER effort into Sterk Family Farms this week. Over 1,000 new lip balms and 100 new miracle balms have hit the shelves in our storage unit which is like $8,000 in inventory. Obviously I have to go out and move that product now but Holy Toledo what an effort from Mrs. Carl to refill the stores.
And not to brag about my old lady too much but she’s a full time consultant who just happens to love holistic and natural skincare. So the free time is spent working up the product and obviously if you’re married or in a relationship then you know how cool it is to watch your significant other commit to something. I had a lot of that when Red Line Radio was getting off the ground and it’s cool to see it the other way on Sterk Family Farms with Nicole. That’s Mrs. Carl’s first name.
Anyways huge week which means I can sink my teeth back into the blog and the Cubs as we get into the 4th of July. So if you get a chance, go check out my wife’s product and get yourself a lip balm or something. I ship to all 50 states and most recently a military base in Africa which was only $4 because there’s a federal program for shipping stuff to military bases. I had no idea.
My point is this.
The Cubs got their asses kicked yesterday and we need to pick it up and move on into this off day.
More importantly, we survive a brutal June that yielded just 4 off days and a 13-13 record. People don’t love that but it’s a hard schedule and hard season and June’s our 2nd toughest month. So we go into July with a 1st place lead and hopefully some momentum.
Here are some miscellaneous observations:
- Jameson Taillon said his stuff was the best it’s ever been yesterday. Take that for what it is. Personally I tend to believe him because he doesn’t say shit like that.
- I’ve argued with a lot of people about Daniel Palencia as a good closer in the long run and I want to repeat that I don’t love him for down the stretch. The secondary command just isn’t there.
- The bench is becoming such a problem to the extent that I expect Jed is working on this as I type the sentence.
- I hate Vidal Brujan
- Matt Shaw has one month to show it’s his job for the playoffs and I don’t love his odds. My next question is whether he’s the ideal bench player down the stretch. Something where he can still contribute without the crushing expectation of playing everyday.
- Cam Smith looked a lot better over the weekend but I won’t get mad about that because I actually think Matt Shaw is the better player long term.
- Nico Hoerner shut me up this week after hitting 3 homers in 6 games. Don’t forget when I’m wrong guys. It happens a lot.
- I think the Cubs sweep the Guardians at home
- Off day today so make sure you get some decent sleep
- I’m nervous about Pete Crow Armstrong in July
There’s a lot to get into so let’s do that today.
Monday Morning Cubs Show will be out some time later.
Let’s fucking rock and roll.
