Wake Up With The Fact That Matt Boyd Should Be An All Star (FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS)

Classic textbook win last night and just a good start to the week following an off day Monday.

Especially with Shota going today. Huge opportunity to build some momentum, so let’s do that.

Some observations on the game:

  • Matt Boyd should probably be an All Star
  • I power ranked Michael Busch 6th out of Cubs hitters yesterday and then he got on base all 4 times and people talked shit to me and I enjoyed it.
  • I also confused Michael Busch with Colin Rea from Kyle Tucker’s boat picture and I think that’s actually fair if you stare hard enough
  • I think Michael Busch is 6th because he can’t even face left handed pitching, much less hit left handed pitching. On technicality alone, I don’t have the spirit to stretch Busch into the top 5 but I could be wrong.
  • Michael Busch should hit against left handed pitching.

This is turning into a Michael Busch blog with absolutely NOTHING going on last night’s game so let’s turn that around:

  • Seiya bomb is so huge. Arguably one of the more underrated guys that I think is super hard to gameplan around. He can hit to all fields. He’s patient. He can match any fastball velocity. He doesn’t chase with 2 strikes that much. And he’s a physical force of understated proportions. Maybe my favorite 3 hitter in about 10 years. Classic really.
  • 2-7 last night all had big games
  • Palencia looks like a stud and that’s really good stuff from Cubs management to clean him up. I don’t know how much people believe me but his secondary is drastically better because he’s got such quieter movements through his delivery. It’s so much smoother and that leads to repeatable pitches which allows you to then overpower guys over the middle of the plate and let it rip. So huge strides and we like that.
  • Awful baserunning but Williams from Cleveland was also using a balk move that never gets called because nobody uses it. Is that a blog? I don’t know how much you guys care about the technical but you can’t flinch your back knee to home then pick to first base. If you do it fast enough, it’s impossible for a runner to take a secondary lead without risk. And surprising MLB won’t call it last night and I think that’s to counteract stolen bases. There’s a conspiracy here that balk moves are allowed so fluidly. Probably to keep the game pace moving. There’s a real thing going on here worth exploring. So weigh that against your angst for the bad baserunning.
  • That’s my only silver lining on the matter because otherwise I think it’s absolute fuckin bullshit we give up outs on the bags so easily.
  • 1-0 since boat ride with King Tuck
  • 1-0 in July
  • 1-0 to start the week

Let’s keep it rolling and let’s have a great day My Friends
