Maybe the most absurd college baseball story I’ve ever seen and there’s plenty. Guys hitting for the cycle with triple the legal limit BAC. Another time this guy’s mom got double teamed at a conference championship by a couple assistant coaches. Then there’s the one team that accidentally went to the same strip club as their coaching staff on spring break only to go on a 20 game winning streak. And these are routine occurrences off the top of my head.
Never though did I think you could score 23 runs in a single inning and I played against Chicago State. I’ve seen the absolute worst college baseball has to offer up close and personal and even that’s not worse than 5-6 runs an inning if you’re really trying.
Truthfully that’s the hardest thing against shitty competition. You lose focus from trying and you want to hit bombs and strike everyone out because they suck. It’s an inevitable feeling in baseball that I don’t think transfer to other sports.
And crazy enough, Holy Cross won a game on the road at #22 Auburn to start the season.

And they were on a 4-game win streak heading into Tuesday’s game against George Mason…

But obviously the pitching staff was gutted after a Saturday double-header including a 13-inning game into a Monday makeup game leading into their first Midweek Tuesday game. That’s a mouthful but the point is those circumstances line up perfectly for you to have no pitching, and that’s exactly why you see 12 walks + HBP in the same inning.
LOL
For real though it’s harder in my opinion to give up 23 runs than it is to score 23 runs at any level in baseball. Just watch batting practice and you’ll see MLB players fly out and hit grounders regularly. It’s just so fuckin hard to hit a baseball and so much easier to catch & throw it. That’s probably the most amazing part about all of this.
In other news
Tennessee hit 3 grand slams last night. It’s the first time since LSU hit 3 grand slams against the University of Illinois in 2009.
You probably didn’t know this, but I was on that Illinois team.
It was awesome.
I’ll tell you guys all about it some day.
