Whatever You Do. Wherever You Go. Whoever You May Be. DO NOT BE THIS FUCKING GUY.

I’m so sick of 670 the score as an institution in Chicago sports in 2025 that I might actually barf on myself as I type this out.

Is that bit?

As Mahoney likes to wonder – are we still doing schtick?

What the FUCK did I just listen to?

That fella is producing a live sports talk radio show in the 3rd largest market in the country and that’s how he feels about a 2-0 game against Mackenzie Gore?

Let me do a favor for any Monday Morning Maniacs reading this in explaining a couple basic things about watching baseball:

  • It’s hard
  • Some times you lose
  • Michael Busch is a good player
  • Craig Counsell is a genius by industry standards
  • You play almost every day
  • The best teams lose 1 out of every 3 games they play
  • The best hitters fail 7 out of 10 times
  • Umpires are human beings
  • The ball gets hit hard
  • Players are fast
  • The ball moves a lot when you’re trying to hit it
  • The other team practices too
  • Your opposition is trying to beat you
  • One more time: it’s a hard game

That’s the important stuff to keep in mind because it should influence your overall thoughts and behaviors towards a particular game/moment/player. And heaven forbid you’re in a position to talk to a large number of people (read: an audience) then you probably want to keep that stuff at the forefront of your mind lest you sound like a complete dipshit jackass fuck head.

Again – if we’re doing schtick then I got no problem with this guy ripping the headset and having some fun with a bad game.

But if you’re telling me you’re dead on balls serious about the Cubs like this then you belong in Lake Michigan looking for loose change at the very bottom. And don’t come up when your done.

For real though.

670 used to mean something. It used to be a sharp place with good banter and it makes me sad to see what it’s become: fucking trash.
