From one scumbag ownership group to the next. Step on down Ishbia brothers.
There’s so many Sox fans celebrating this right now and I truly feel bad for everyone involved. These guys suck. They’re posers and bad for the city of Chicago and I want nothing to do with them having a say in our culture and communities and everything inbetween. Fuck these guys.
They’re Michigan mortgage brokers that don’t give one flying fuck about White Sox fans or Bridgeport or whatever the hell they think the represent. They’re vultures. Cancerous and awful people who couldn’t be further from Grinder Ball Rules.
At least Tom Ricketts has a bad fake story about going on a date in the bleachers.
At least Danny Wirtz grew up here.
And thankfully George McCaskey shares blood with Papa Bear.
The Ishbia brothers best connection is owning shit here. That’s it.
So when they pack things up for Nashville in 3-5-7-10 years or whatever, don’t be surprised. When they stall on developing a new park and hire their feasibility consultants and run this ship out of town, don’t be surprised because that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Without any shadow of any doubt, the White Sox will leave Chicago under Justin Ishbia’s ownership and there will be nothing anyone can do to stop it.
Some counter points:
- The White Sox are better off without Jerry
- They’ve never had a $100M player
- The team sucks
- The team is cheap
- Winning solves everything
- The White Sox are a historic organization that would never leave Chicago
- Chicago will always have 2 baseball teams
- The White Sox are a sleeping giant
- Their an iconic brand
- BLAH BLAH BLAH
None of this is going to stop them from being the guys that move baseball to Nashville. It’s going to happen and this cements the fact that it’s the White Sox in Tennessee and not an expansion team.
You might think I’m crazy but I’m actually clairvoyant and this is crystal clear to me.
They’ll use the next couple years as the primary excuse to move the team.
They got to work alongside Jerry Reinsdorf in the transition process and the more time they spent, the more obvious it became that the organization can’t reach it’s full potential sharing the spotlight with the Cubs. In fact, that’s why the White Sox are so limited historically. It’s always been that way and it just needed an outside perspective to really solidify the move and fortunately the Ishbia’s have the foresight to partner with Rob Manfred on this groundbreaking development
At some point, someone from the Athletic will get paid to write something to that effect.
The only thing I can say is that I hope Ben Johnson wins 2-4 Super Bowls because that’s the only thing that will keep some people alive through this transition. My father in particular but so many other diehard White Sox fans will have to endure an unimaginable betrayal in loyalties.
Those are the guys I really feel for because it’s actually very sad.
RIP to the Chicago White Sox
PS – I am not trolling you guys. I am legitimately sick to my stomach because I am 100% convinced the Ishbia family will move the White Sox at their first available moment and no amount of PR will change that opinion in me.
it makes me so sad how true this is going to be in 10 years
